The House of Delegates (HOD) conducted a virtual dialogue on Engaging Members in Research on May 3-4, 2014. Thanks to all the members who participated in the Utah survey about research efforts happening in the state. Some fun facts from Utah dietitians who responded to the survey (n=71):
* 65% apply research resources their current area of practice
* 69% see themselves contributing to research in the future
* The top 3 reasons for not wanting to contribute in research: time, funding, and feeling research is not conducive in their current job position.
What are the next steps following the HOD Meeting?
HOD requested:
* The Council on Research develop a realistic plan to engage members in research
* Academy Bylaws include Past Treasurer on Board of Directors & an office for a Public Member change to 3 years
* The consideration of the following position paper concept: “The Role of the RDN and Nutrition Therapy in the Prevention and Treatment of Pre-Diabetes and Diabetes”
