Becky Sulik, RDN, LD, CDE is currently the Director of Education at the Rocky Mountain Diabetes & Osteoporosis Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She has been a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since her days as a student. She is the current chair of the Academy’s Coding and Coverage Committee.
In addition to patient care, she is active in the clinic’s efforts to obtain and expand reimbursement for diabetes and other nutrition services.

Breakout Session: “Alphabet Soup: Understanding the Use of Coding/Billing Terminology”
Overview
Often, the topic of billing and coding can be intimidating to RDN’s, but it doesn’t have to be. Dietitians in private practice, hospital practice, or other health-care settings need to be able to speak the basics language of billing and coding for nutrition services. This presentation will cover the basics as well as provide an overview of resources available.
Objectives
At the completion of this program, participants will be able to:
1. Identify procedure codes for nutrition and nutrition-related services that may be reimbursed by commercial third party payers.
2. Recognize coding use and payment trends among RDNs across the country.
3. Recognize opportunities to expand nutrition practice to receive payment for nutrition and nutrition-related services in multiple settings.
