Katherine Beals, PhD, RD, FACSM, CSSD is currently a clinical Associate Professor at the University of Utah. Dr Beals’ research focuses on the female athletes triad, nutritional needs of athletes, particularly female athletes, satiety and weight management, and carbohydrate and protein metabolism. She has worked as the Sports Dietitian for the University of Utah Athletics and as a nutrition consultation to Intercollegiate Athletes at Ball University. She has authored 15 research articles on nutrition and athletic performance as well as co-authoring a chapter in Clinical Sports Nutrition. 2nd Edition: Disorder Eating in Athletes.

- Describe the prevalence of low energy availability, endocrine disturbances and low bone mineral density in male athletes.
- Identify male athletes who are at greatest risk for the “male athlete triad”
- Provide prevention/intervention and treatment strategies for male athletes suffering the disorders of the “male athlete triad”
