Jennifer Oler, UAND President

October 14th, 2014

This year Jennifer Oler, Dietetic Internship Director at Utah State University-Salt Lake, is serving as UAND’s president and we are lucky to have her!

Jennifer is originally from North Ogden where she grew up working on the family fruit farm. The fruit farm remains the foundation for some of her favorite food traditions. She said, “I still love spending time picking and mostly eating the peaches with my family!” If she could have any super power it would be teleportation. She said, “I love exploring new places and being able to teleport would make that so much easier.”

Of her favorite position Jennifer said, “I love working with students and helping them reach their goal of becoming a dietitian. I’m fortunate that I get to do that in my current job.” She hopes to continue her work with students in future years and advises young dietitians to “have fun and follow your passion. Also, get involved and be willing to give back to our profession.”

We asked Jennifer what UAND’s focus and priority areas are this year:

Jennifer: I hope to continue the upward progression that UAND has been on. I think our focus will largely be on preparing to work for state licensure. It is a complicated process and is going to take money and a unified membership. Also, I hope that we can continue to improve our board organization. Board members are all busy and I’d like to see us continue to make it easier to connect and share using technology like WebEx and Dropbox.

Thank you for all you do to keep UAND organized and moving forward Jennifer!
