Happy National Nutrition Month! March is a special month for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, dietitians and nutrition practitioners nation-wide. For National Nutrition Month 2016, the theme is “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right” What does this mean? Find ways to ENJOY eating well & healthily. I mean why eat if it’s not enjoyable? Lot of times enjoying food requires mindful eating. Actually pay attention to the flavors and textures of what you’re eating. If you don’t love it, why eat it?
Anyways….
We have 2 challenges for you during National Nutrition Month:
First of all, we’re hosting a recipe contest- you can win a Fit Bit Flex!!!!!!
Here are the details:
In celebration of National Nutrition Month, we’re holding a contest for UAND Facebook followers! (so if you’re not following us on Facebook, it’s time to rectify that & get in the loop!)
The theme of this year’s National Nutrition Month is to “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right.” To enter the contest for a chance to win, please submit the following information via our UAND Facebook page by Thursday March 31st:
1) Develop your own recipe using your favorite local Utah product (for example: Cox Honeyland, Beehive Cheese, Heber Valley Artisan Cheese, anything you want!)
2) A description of why this recipe is special to you, and those who you choose to “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right” with..
Feel free to submit an entry individually or with friends, co-workers, or loved ones.
The other announcement, from Stephanie Parker UAND Marketing Chair:
As you know, March is National Nutrition Month. I challenge each one of you to do something to promote this year’s theme “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right.” It can be something big like organizing a cook off of healthy food at your workplace or something small like trying some new tasty healthy recipes on your family and teaching them some things about nutrition. Can you imagine the impact we’d have if every RDN in Utah did this? Remember to take advantage of our National Nutrition Month grants if you plan to do something big!
Also, if you do any segments or stories for the media, please email a link to stephaniebparker@gmail.com so I can post it on the UAND blog. We have a running list of “Utah Registered Dietitians in the News” who do a great job. Check it out!
Thanks for all you do to promote our profession! Happy National Nutrition Month!
