Reflections from Julie Hansen, UAND President 2011-2012

June 25th, 2012

I have really enjoyed my year as president of the Utah Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  I have a lot of good memories and have made a lot of new friends.   I have to thank my board for all of their help in making the year go smoothly.  We really need to continue connecting with our members and as I reflect back, here are my thoughts on how you can get plugged in:

1)  Our group likes to be social; do not miss any opportunities for this.

2)  Legislature Day was really fun and very informative!  If you haven’t attended, this should be on your bucket list.

3)  We have moved into the 21st century with social networking sites such as Facebook, Blogs and Twitter!!!  Make sure you have joined these sites with us.

4)  Being on the Utah Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics board is a great way to network, serve in a professional role and provide a new challenge.

5)  Curt Calder, our executive director makes all of our board positions easy!  It is so nice our state affiliate has this position and Curt is in it.

6)  Gina Young, your new President can dance…………..more on that later!!!

Julie Hansen served as UAND President 2011-2012, and will continue to serve as Past-President for the upcoming year.  Here she is pictured with KSL News Anchor Tonya Papanikolas after an interview.

We hope you will join us in saying thank you to Julie for a fantastic year, and in welcoming Gina Young our new President for 2012-2013!  We are excited to see what the new year will bring!

  1. Julie,

You have a way of making everyone in a room feel at ease and welcome. I appreciated this as I made my re-entry into the field of dietetics. You lead with a gentle hand and were mighty effective. Thank you for your time and talent. P.S. now that you will have all this time on your hands, how about energizing the journal club. I enjoyed the times we met.
